School News - February 2017

We now are into the second semester and are busy planning for the next school year. Please watch the Monthly Memo, and other school publications, about enrollment for next year and information on upcoming open houses. If you know someone who would be interested in the excellent, Christian education we offer here at Immanuel, please encourage them to give us a call or stop by.

The National Accelerated Reader Challenge has begun. Students in LCMS schools read as many books as they can in the six weeks of the challenge. They then take tests through the Accelerated Reader program at each school to earn points. These points are calculated each week to see where students rank. This is a great event and encourages reading. Check the school ramp to see where we rank against other schools.

There is an early dismissal on Wednesday, February 8th for Immanuel students and no school on February 13th for both Immanuel and Marshfield Public. Mid-quarter grades will be on Fast Direct on February 17th

The basketball season will be finishing in February. There are still a few games left. If you are interested in attending a game, please check the Monthly Memo for dates. Go Spartans!

PTL is planning a family movie night for Friday, Feb. 24th. There will be a movie in the fellowship hall along with popcorn and drinks. Afterwards, families are free to go to Christian Skate Night. Hope to see you there!

PTL is also busy preparing for the School Carnival on March 11th during our Lutheran Schools’ Week (Mar. 4-11). Our carnival is a wonderful outreach to the community and a lot of fun! PTL will be taking donations of cakes for our cake walk as well as items for the silent auction. If you are interested in donating items or helping at the carnival, please give us a call. We hope to see you there!

During the month of February, we are often thinking about love. We see hearts and valentines in the stores. The color red is everywhere. The Bible tells us that “God is love” May we share His love to everyone we meet.

In Christ,

Dr. Karen Bahn, Principal

Welcome to 2017! It’s hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the school year. There are several events happening in the school during January.

Our classes resume on Tuesday, January 3rd. Marshfield Public resumes on Monday, so please plan accordingly. The early dismissal day for Immanuel takes place on Wednesday, January 11th at 1:30 p.m. This early dismissal is only for our school. Marshfield will be in session. An additional noon dismissal for both Immanuel and Marshfield Public is on Friday, January 20th.

PTL will be having a meeting on Monday, January 12th at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the upcoming carnival in March. We hope to see many parents at this important meeting.

Camp Luther will be coming on Wednesday, January 11th to lead a special chapel for the students and tell about the upcoming summer camp opportunities. Flyers about Camp Luther will be sent home with students after the program.

The school spelling bee is scheduled for Friday, January 27th at 1:30 p.m. The winner or alternate from this bee will go on to compete at the regional bee in February.

Basketball season is well underway at Immanuel. You are most welcome to join us for any of our games and cheer the Spartans on. The basketball schedule is published in the school memo and is on the bulletin board by the ramp.

We also have cheerleading back for the winter season. Miss Courtney Clark is coaching the cheerleaders this year.

The end of the 2nd quarter and first semester is on Friday, January 20th. Report cards will be available on Fast Direct the following Friday, January 27th

The blessed season of Epiphany is upon us. It is a time to remember how the Wise Men looked for the coming Savior and found Him. May we continue to seek our Savior through His Word and worship.

In Christ,

Dr. Karen Bahn, Principal

God’s richest blessings to you and your families during this blessed season. Joy to the world, the Lord is come!

In Christ,

Dr. Karen Bahn, Principal
